The Classics Club meme question for this month:
What is the best book you've read so far for The Classics Club -- and why?
I've only read 4 classics from my list so far, having only recently joined the Club, but the answer is, hands-down, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It's so relateable, sweet, and such a lovely book that, despite the blatant didacticism, I enjoyed it thoroughly and will, of course, force all my daughters to read it, if I have any. It's the classic I wish I read when I was a teenager.
Have you read Little Women? What do you think of it?
I know what you mean. I didn't read LW until I was well into college, and I wish I had when I was a teenager. I spent half those years reading L. M. Montgomery, why not LMA too?ReplyDelete
I just don't expect 19th century books for younger people to *not* be didactic. :)
Ha, ha, I know what you mean. Very true...Delete
I loved Little Women when I was little and wanted to be just like Jo, a kick-ass bookworm. I recently read some of her more mature novels, such as A Long Fatal Love Chase and loved them as well but my heart always goes back to the Marsh sisters.ReplyDelete
I love Little Women so much :)ReplyDelete
